Wyatt Honored for its Pro Bono Legal Services

March 10, 2015

The Memphis office of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs LLP has received the Tennessee Bar Association’s Corporate Counsel Pro Bono Law Firm Award in honor of the law firm’s commitment to provide free legal services to low-income families in Shelby, Fayette, Tipton and Lauderdale counties.

“This recognition is one that all of us at Wyatt are pleased to receive,’’ said Robert E. Craddock Jr., partner-in-charge of Wyatt’s Memphis office. “Helping those who are less fortunate is a value deeply embedded in the history of this law firm, and we truly are humbled that our peers throughout the state have chosen to recognize Wyatt for that.”

Wyatt was nominated for this prestigious award by Linda Warren Seely, director of pro bono projects with Memphis Area Legal Services (MALS), the primary provider of civil legal representation to low-income families in the four-county West Tennessee region. Seely detailed the ways Wyatt supports MALS, including: hosting phone-a-thon fundraiser in which more than one-third of the law firm’s attorneys volunteer to participate; sponsoring and participating in a Saturday legal clinic so people in need can obtain free legal advice; and contributing financially to MALS at the highest level of giving.

Wyatt received the honor during the Tennessee Bar Association’s (TBA) ninth annual Corporate Counsel Pro Bono Initiative Gala March 7 in Nashville. The gala is part of the Corporate Counsel Pro Bono Initiative – a partnership between the TBA and the Association of Corporate Counsel that encourages and supports pro bono activities by lawyers serving as in-house and corporate counsel in the state.
